Where can I find out about open shifts?

Our employees receive information about open shifts via our app in hoiwa and occasionally via SMS. We also share information about job vacancies on Hoiwa social media.

You can register with us and being on the list does not oblige you to work if you don't find a job you like or a longer-term replacement.

What do you mean by unauthorised and authorised carer?

An unlicensed home care worker is a worker who does not have a medication licence. A medication licence includes a theory (LOVe), screens and a form with a doctor's signature. In the system, an employee can work as a pharmacist in several units if he/she has completed a medication authorization somewhere and it has been approved by us. It is up to the work site to decide what type of medication authorizations they will accept and due to nurse shortages, many will accept authorizations from another unit. However, in some units, new screens and medication authorisations have to be carried out.

Can a student apply to Hoiwa?

Yes you can! To apply, you must be a student student nurse with work experience and at least 30 credits. Nursing students can apply if they have 60 credits. In addition, nursing students can apply for substitute care for nursing students with 60 credits and for substitute care for nursing students with 140 credits. You can become a care assistant even if you have fewer credits. The final decision to admit a student to a particular placement is made on a client-by-client basis

Are there language requirements?

A health professional must have sufficient oral and written language skills to perform the tasks required of him or her. Language skills must be demonstrated in either Finnish or Swedish.

We currently have no vacancies for Swedish-language posts.

How much does Hoiwa pay its carers?

The collective agreement sets a minimum wage and Hoiwa pays an above-average hourly wage. Wages may vary slightly from region to region, but for example, the average wage for a nurse is €22.94-25/hour, while the average for a pharmacist is €18.20/hour and €17/hour for a non-pharmacist.

In addition to the hourly wage, holiday pay is always added to the wages. We also take care of all statutory allowances and benefits as required. Salaries are influenced by the job and location. Medical licenses are also a factor that can affect the salary, for example, the salary has been increased for those with a medical license.

Is holiday pay included in the hourly rate?

In our application, for example, the nurse's salary is €25 (including 9% holiday pay). In the pay slip, it is broken down separately into €22.94 and holiday pay, but the total is the same €25.

What do you mean by fast pay?

An express shift is a shift for which you will be paid within 2-4 days of the shift being confirmed and completed. Pay days are: Mon, Wed and Fri. The employee will see the shifts in our Hoiwa application.

What do you mean by bonus shift?

A bonus shift is a shift for which we pay a separate bonus on top of your normal salary, e.g. In certain locations, you can get up to €200 bonus by committing to a minimum of one month's substitutions!

Does Hoiwa pay the supplement?

For the time being, we do not pay any supplements.

Is there a vaccination ban in Hoiwa?

The current situation
‍The
"Interim Communicable Diseases Act, Section 48a in Social and Health Care Services", which provides as follows:

‍Subsection 1 of the section:
In social and health care services, in any position involving a risk of infection by close contact with clients or patients susceptible to the serious consequences of covid-19, a person who has not demonstrated that he or she has protection against covid-19 by vaccination or by a laboratory-confirmed disease contracted not more than six months previously may be employed only for special reasons.

A worker who is medically unable to take the vaccine may prove protection against covid-19 by certifying a negative result of a covid-19 test carried out on him/her up to 72 hours before his/her arrival at work.

The temporary section 48a of the Communicable Diseases Act entered into force on 1 January 2022 and will remain in force until 31 December 2022. There is a transitional period of 30 days for the application of paragraphs 1 and 3 of the provision.

In practice, this does not yet tell us anything about coronary vaccination rates, so we will use the THL recommendation, which goes like this:

‍Vaccination coverageis valid when one of the following points is met :

- Two doses of vaccine and the recommended booster dose

- A history of covid-19 disease and two doses of vaccineTwo doses of covid-19 disease and one dose of vaccine

- A history of laboratory-confirmed covid-19 disease within the last six months

-An employee who is medically unable to receive the vaccine: A negative result of a covid-19 test taken up to 72 hours before the start of the shift.

An illness with covid-19 is considered equivalent to a single dose of vaccine for the purposes of immunological protection if the interval between the illness and the dose of vaccine or between the dose of vaccine and the illness is at least 6 weeks.

‍If you are in the processof completing your vaccine coverage, you may work until you are able to effectively complete your vaccine coverage. The minimum requirement for vaccine coverage at this point is two vaccines or a history of illness and one vaccine.
